To put it bluntly, MOAA members STILL need to persuade our elected members of Congress to co-sponsor H.R. 2017 and S. 832 that would authorize a Federal Charter for MOAA.  The bills are a bipartisan effort that would authorize a federal charter for MOAA.

We are making a special request of you to personally call the offices of Rep. Smith and Sen. Ben Nelson and ask them to become cosponsors.  You can use MOAA’s toll-free Capitol Hill hotline, 1-866-272-6622 and ask the Capitol operator to connect you with the Representative or Senator’s office.  Ask the office person to tell their boss to please cosponsor the Van Hollen/Jones H.R. 2017 (or S.282 for Sen. Nelson) so MOAA will no longer be discriminated against in trying to serve the military and veterans community.
